It was my first time leaving my country—a solo trip to Europe, full of excitement but also uncertainty. I didn’t know anyone, and I quickly found myself stranded in a foreign land, lost in translation, unfamiliar with the cultural norms, and overwhelmed by the food I didn’t recognize. I had all the travel apps to guide me, but something was missing: connection.Everything changed when I met the locals. Suddenly, the trip became alive. These brilliant people shared the rich history of their home, accompanied me to breathtaking historical sites, and offered guidance that no app ever could. They didn’t just show me their world, they invited me into it. It was the epitom of human connection. They opened their homes, introduced me to their friends, and gave me a glimpse into their lives. What started as a trip quickly became a journey filled with color, warmth, and unforgettable moments.
When I returned home, I told my husband: “We need to create something that brings this magic to everyone.” It was a heaven Match! We both understood the great need of a local guide who is a peer and a friend. He had helped many tourists who were friends of friends that came to visit our country, find thier way around and settle-in numerous times. Knowing the reccuring needs of his travellers, He had even come up with a 'stater pack for newbies'. That’s how Local Rafiki was born—a way to bridge travelers with locals, offering not just guidance but real friendship and authentic experiences.
